The Results are in: Survey #1: Recap

You asked, we listened!

We put out a survey to our fine mailing list folk a couple of weeks ago, and we asked which of three things should be our priorities in the near-term:

• More of the hand-dyed fine yarns that we’ve been focused on
• More everyday yarns
• More knitting tools (needles, hooks, etc)

We’ve calculated the results and formed our action plan going forward:

60% of respondents wanted an increased selection of hand-dyed indie and small batch yarns.
27% of respondents wanted lower priced yarn options
13% of respondents wanted an increased selection of needles, hooks, and more.

As a response to these results, we’ve done the following:

• Placed orders with five additional indie / small batch dyers, and will soon have orders being placed with at least two more
• Placed more orders with our existing small batch dyers (because of course we did)
• Placed a decent sized order with Sugar Bush to increase our coverage there
• Shopped around for some more everyday yarns which we can bring in over time
• Placed an order for a more complete collection of needle sets, and are looking into more crochet hooks and other tools

So, basically, we’re going to try to please everyone in the long term, but the short term is continuing our focus on indie / small batch hand dyed yarns.

We also had some amazing comments left on the surveys which we’ve taken to heart and are working on implementing:

“A selection of patterns” – Definitely working on this. We found a great supplier of patterns and are just making some choices as to what to bring in!

“I would like to be able to shop by solids / tonals / speckled / self-striping and more” – while we do have a “solid” and “multi” filter, we completely understand that more detail is needed. We’ll be working on expanding this into tonals, striping, and more.

“I love to know more about the different suppliers and their inspirations or visions” – Absolutely! We’re working on a feature right now that we’re calling ‘Supplier Spotlight’ (until we come up with a more clever name) which will do just that!

“It would be helpful if you could describe the “feel” of the yarn more” – We’re going to work on that! We’re playing with the best way to go about it, but it’s definitely something we’re working on.

“Suggestions for what patterns work with what yarns” – That we can do!

“QUANTITY! So many times I have thought “I want that for a sweater” , only to find out that there are only a couple skeins available” – We’re working on bringing in larger quantity batches. But bear in mind, we can also special order things no problem at all!

And many many more – so many that I can’t put responses to all of them.

The point I want to make is, we absolutely hear you. We value your input so much as its you folks who have been making this dream possible for us. It may take us time, but we’ll be working on implementing these things as we’re able to.
